1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Horizon Speech Therapy's services, website, or client portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Services Provided

Horizon Speech Therapy provides speech-language pathology services including but not limited to:

  • • Speech and language assessments
  • • Individual therapy sessions (in-person and virtual)
  • • Group therapy programs
  • • Parent/caregiver training
  • • Consultation services

3. Professional Qualifications

All speech-language pathologists at Horizon Speech Therapy are licensed and registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC). Our therapists maintain current professional liability insurance and complete ongoing professional development.

4. Appointments and Cancellations

To ensure availability for all clients, we have the following policies:

  • 24-Hour Notice: Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling
  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the session fee
  • No-Shows: Missed appointments without notice may be charged the full session fee
  • Repeated Cancellations: Frequent cancellations may result in discharge from services

5. Payment and Fees

Payment policies include:

  • • Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made
  • • We accept major credit cards, e-transfer, and direct billing to select insurance providers
  • • Fee schedules are available upon request
  • • We provide detailed receipts for insurance reimbursement

6. Virtual Therapy Services

For virtual (teletherapy) sessions:

  • • Services are provided via secure, encrypted video conferencing
  • • You are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection and private space
  • • Virtual sessions are subject to the same confidentiality protections as in-person sessions
  • • Technical difficulties may require rescheduling without cancellation fees

7. Client Portal

Access to our secure client portal is provided for scheduling, viewing session notes, and completing exercises. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

8. Confidentiality

All information shared during therapy is confidential and will not be disclosed without your written consent, except as required by law (e.g., mandatory reporting of abuse, imminent harm to self or others, or court order). Please see our Privacy Policy for complete details.

9. Limitation of Liability

While we strive for the best possible outcomes, speech therapy results vary by individual. We cannot guarantee specific outcomes. Horizon Speech Therapy's liability is limited to the fees paid for services. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

10. Intellectual Property

All materials, including therapy resources, exercises, and educational content provided by Horizon Speech Therapy, are protected by copyright. These materials are for your personal use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or sold without written permission.

11. Discharge from Services

Discharge from services may occur when:

  • • Therapy goals have been achieved
  • • The client/family requests discharge
  • • There is insufficient progress despite modifications to treatment
  • • Non-compliance with treatment recommendations
  • • Unpaid fees or repeated policy violations

12. Complaints and Disputes

If you have concerns about services, please contact our Clinical Director first. Unresolved complaints may be directed to the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC). Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with the laws of British Columbia.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or through our client portal.
